Cool fall weekends awaken the “project cook” in me: Suddenly I have a hankering to bake bread, make an elaborate chili, or finally figure out how to make bagels at home for Sunday morning. Plus, there’s the bushel of apples, the peck of pears, the huge butternut squash, and the last box of CSA produce, and you better believe somebody’s got to make the pies and casseroles and stews that use them all up.

This is what your Gourmet Tumblrer is making: Kemp’s Black Beans. The sherry cream, soy sauce and balsamic vinegar in this recipe is intriguing. I will let you know how it turns out on Monday, along with pics!
